The Aomori Marathon Running Competition held 28 times in the past will be reinvigorated with a FULL marathon event. The event date will be rescheduled from July to April to coincide with the cherry blossom season, and this first Aomori Sakura Marathon will take place on Sunday, April 19th.

Invents will include a full marathon, half marathon, and 10k events.
We expect to receive official recognition from the Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF) for the full and half marathon events.
Time limits are 5 hours 30 min for the full marathon, 3 hours for the half marathon, and 1 hour 20 minutes for the 10k.
The starting line will be at Nogiwa Park near Shin-Aomori Station, and the finish line will be at Aoi-Umi Park just beside ASPAM Tourism Promotion Headquarters.

The course is mostly flat but includes a traverse across Aomori Bay Bridge to add a roughly 20m elevation change. The view is spectacular when the weather is good.

You can also find many interesting places near the Aoi-Umi Park finish line, such asthe WaRasse Nebuta Museum, A-Factory, the “Gyosai Center” Fish Market famous for Nokke-don fish bowls, and Aomori Machinaka Hot Spring. After your run, please enjoy sightseeing, dining, and souvenir shopping in the city.
